The Dictionary Definition Of Racism

I'd like to point out that the dictionary definition of racism is flawed. Below is the definition of racism or the ''pop definition''
the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
It doesn't say who this belief is largely targeted against, who first developed these ideas, who is seen as inferior or superior and how its actually used in society. So the majority of people who read up on the definition fail to understand what racism truly is. Bear in mind the dictionary is edited and was written by White people, so its unlikely they'll use an accurate definition.

From the definition you get the impression anyone can be racist, and you'd be right to have that impression if you go by the dictionary definition. But calling someone a Nigger, Cracker, Wigger, Chink or any other derogatory racialised words isn't inherently racist. Its simply prejudice or in some instances generalising a racial group.

For example if I said;
''Black African people are rude, disgusting and stink no wonder their in poverty''
The statement isn't racist, its prejudice as its based on a preconceived idea of African people.

Are some Africans rude? Yes
Are some Africans disgusting? Yes
Are some living in poverty because of their own doing? Yes

If after that statement I and the organisation I'm apart of decides to drop bombs on say, Libya so they don't challenge the racial hegemony of White dominance then that's Racism. - The racism that counts.

So, what is prejudice?

preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.

That definition sounds strikingly similar to the definition of racism which is why a lot of people claim random actions to be ''racist'' which in my opinion is a deliberate attempt to focus peoples attention away from the more serious type of racism that affect Non-Whites.

I believe prejudice based on misinformation shouldn't be tolerated but if racism isn't tackled in institutions, governments and media then how can we even attempt to change the prejudices the masses have?
