A comment below the video states:
''I never understood why it was okay for white people or races of lighter skin to get spray tans to be darker but it was such a big deal for people of darker skin to want to make their skin lighter''
To answer the comment the reason why you don't understand is because you don't understand psychology. Many (not all) people who bleach their skin don't like their skin pigmentation and they want to lighter skins or be closer to looking European. This again is due to the effects of colonialism and white supremacy ideology onto that individual. The mentally of darker skinned people feeling inferior or inadequate compared to White Europeans is a long history that dates back to the colonial period - though India also had a caste system based on skin colour.

On the flip side White people who tan their skin do not want to look darker skinned they don't want to be Indian or West African they simply want a tan. The tan is temporary unlike many people who bleach their skin want to keep it that way. The fundamental difference is that they don't have a inferiority complex when it comes to their skin complexion.

A sniped from the Guardian
"Skin colour bias affects people psychologically. It affects how a child performs in school because their confidence level goes down: they feel they are not good enough. And when it comes to marriage, we again find skin colour plays such a vital role. We thought, 'Why are we keeping quiet about this? We should talk about this and see how people respond.''
Except hardly no one talks about skin bleaching. Voice your opinions below; do you bleach your skin?
